Welcome to Tir yr Enaid Nourishment. Movement. Rest. A Grounded Approach to Rebuilding Your Health.

Hi, I’m Susan. Welcome to Tir yr Enaid. This is a space for women who want to rebuild their health, strength, and wellbeing without the toxic pressure of traditional diet culture. I created this space because I believe looking after your health shouldn’t feel like another battle with your body.

After a life-altering medical journey left me in a wheelchair battling chronic pain, I realised that true healing isn’t about restriction. True healing is rebuilding your mind, body and spirit. Now, as a student of Nutrition, Pilates, and Reiki, I’m on a radically honest mission to help women turn pain into purpose and build real, lasting strength.

Currently, I am studying Nutrition, Pilates, and Reiki. I came to these practices because I wanted my life back. I wanted to be the best mum I could possibly be for my little boy, and I needed to turn my own trauma into something genuinely good for other people.

If you stick around, you’ll see me navigating Couch to 5K, training for the London Marathon, and working toward losing my next 3.5 stone — all while honouring a history that changed my relationship with my body forever.

Fy stori · My story

The road here: From Survival to Rebuilding.

For much of my adult life, I lived with overlapping chronic conditions, from PCOS and insulin resistance to severe endometriosis. Years ago, I pushed through it to lose six stone for IVF. The pain of years of infertility treatment is brutal, but I was incredibly fortunate, and I ultimately became a mum to my wonderful son. But life had more hurdles waiting. During the pandemic, my surgery for fibroids and polyps was delayed for almost 2 years. I was incredibly sick during that time. My body was under so much physical stress that my weight ballooned to almost 17 stone, and heartbreakingly, the delays meant I lost the opportunity to try IVF for another baby.

When the surgery finally happened, the nightmare didn’t end. A severe surgical wound infection led to a giant abdominal hernia, plunging me into a five-year ordeal of relentless, daily chronic pain from 2021 to 2026. Let’s say that I completely understand why people comfort eat. My world completely shrank. The life I had was gone. I barely left the house. Things most people take for granted, like lowering myself into a bath, carrying shopping bags, or as simple as picking up something off the floor, were entirely stripped away. I wore a hernia belt from the moment I woke up until bedtime, just to get by, and used mobility aids around the house, until I eventually underwent a massive abdominal wall reconstruction. The aftermath of that surgery was punishing. For five months, I was in immense pain and felt completely housebound. On the handful of occasions I managed to leave the house, I relied on a wheelchair.

It took 18 long months of slow, deliberate rehabilitation and recovery to break free from the worst of it. For years, I had believed that improving my health meant trying harder. Pushing through the pain, following restrictive diets, and punishing my body into submission. After everything my body had just survived, I realized a fundamental truth. I realized that I didn’t need another punishment.   I needed support.

Ystyr · The meaning

Tir yr Enaid —
Land of the Soul.

Tir yr Enaid translates to Land of the Soul.

Rooted in my Celtic heritage and my home in the Welsh Marches, my connection to the land, the Welsh countryside, and the flow of the seasons has been vital to my recovery.

Nature is a beautiful reminder that healing is not linear. Growth does not happen all at once. I’m 47 now, and I have learnt that when you allow yourself to just “be” — and be outside of what is happening to you — you will find there is a season for beginning, a season for movement, a season to let go and be, and a season for rest, to hibernate.

That is the exact philosophy of this space.

I believe we can want change. We can want to lose weight, become fitter, and improve our health. I now know we can do this without making an enemy of, or hating, the body we need to care for.

Y dull · The approach

Three pillars:
mind, body, spirit.

I have formed a three-pillar system for caring for the mind, body and spirit — one I am using myself to lose the final 3 stone, build a life where the system feels easy and natural, and break free from diet culture.

Nutrition · Nourishment

Evidence-based support for health and sustainable change, leaving room for real life without restriction and guilt.

Pilates · Movement

Foundational movement focused on core strength, control, and lifelong mobility and strength.

Reiki · Rest

A dedicated, safe space for relaxation, nervous system regulation, and stepping away from everyday demands.

Fy nhaith · My journey

Study, weight loss,
and the marathon.

By mid-2026 I was finally, officially out of pain. Today my rebuilding is ongoing, and I am building Tir yr Enaid in real time. I want you to be part of it.

  • My studies — I am currently training to become a Nutrition Coach, Pilates Instructor and Reiki Practitioner. I am sharing my studying journey, the insights I am uncovering, and what I am learning along the way.
  • My weight loss journey — navigating PCOS and insulin resistance post-recovery, I have slowly lost 3 stone, and I have 3 stone left to go. I will be sharing the reality of a sustainable journey and passing along helpful resources. I am breaking the cycle of yo-yo dieting for good.
  • The London Marathon — I am starting from zero and training for the 2027 London Marathon. Not to prove anything on a scale, but to reclaim my life and rebuild trust in my mind and body.

My trauma and survival brought me to this work, and my dedicated study is what will allow me to guide you.

I know what it is like to feel unheard and to feel invisible, which is why I will always listen first.
